01 / The reason we build

Every minute before entry matters.

Industrial fires become more dangerous when heat, smoke, toxic gas, or blocked access delay the first response. FireGuard is built to enter that gap—giving responders eyes, data, and suppression power without sending a person into the heat zone first.

A machine can be rebuilt.
A life cannot.

Bangladesh · A documentary record

Behind every alarm is a human story.

The national fire burden

Delay has a human cost.

Bangladesh recorded more than 27,000 fires in a single year. The figures below are attributed to Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence data reported in national media.

Why arrival time matters

Fire keeps developing while help is moving.

Building fires · Netherlands

≈1% more risk per minute

A 2018–2022 building-fire analysis found each additional response minute raised the probability of large damage by about one percentage point on average.

Fire Safety Journal, 2025

Residential fires · Sweden

Longer time, higher fatality risk

A peer-reviewed study of Swedish residential fires found fatality risk was a non-linear function of response time, with shorter responses associated with fewer deaths.

Lives behind the totals

Four fires.
Hundreds lost.

Death totals can change during identification and reporting. Each figure is tied to the named source and its publication date.

Evidence note: The response-time findings are international research, not a Bangladesh-specific estimate. They should not be used to calculate lives or money FireGuard would save. National totals are Fire Service data reported by media and may use different definitions across years.

05 / Purpose in practice

Protect people.
Keep industry moving.

Developed by a student-led team at East West University and tested with Bangladesh Fire Service, FireGuard targets the realities of dense factories and high-risk industrial sites.

SDG 3

Good health and well-being

Remote firefighting can reduce responders’ direct exposure to extreme heat, smoke, toxic gases, and unstable structures.
